For this project our unit will expand to include students from Duncraig SHS that are not part of Bush Rangers WA.  We currently have an application before BP to acquire funding to get this project off the ground.

We are aiming to offer a service to regional Western Australia to help combat salinity in our soil.  Through this project we aim to educate future West Australians how to monitor and combat salinity.  Kits will be sent to participating regional schools that will including educational materials as well as containers for soil sampling.  Students at these schools will be sent out to farms and other regional areas to collect samples of soils and record data about the location from which the sample is taken.

These samples will then be packaged and returned to Duncraig SHS Bush Rangers WA for testing.  Results will be tabulated and using GIS software sample locations will be mapped.  This data will then be made available to the collectors and other groups for analysis and action.

One of the first areas to be done will be Tambellup in parallel to our Trees to Farm project.  Through sampling and analysis cadets will be able to monitor the effectiveness of the draining and tree planting activities.
