Penguin Island is a unique sanctuary off the West Australian coastline and the unit makes regular visits to this special environment. Our arrival on the Island is timed to coincide with the feeding of the Penguins. During this time the Cadets learn about these cute little creatures and an insight on how their environment is managed. The local Rangers follow this up talk up with a walk around the Island learning about the Seals and other aspects of the island environment.
As with all our Camps and Excursion the Unit will devote some of their time to Community Service and assist the local Rangers responsible for caring for the Island Flora and Fauna. In previous visits Cadets have undertaken sand bagging, weeding and planting activities in a bid to reduce erosion and preserve the Island.
